Our very own Arise Racing team member Stuart Spencer-Home is heading back to school and hitting the books in the Bachelor of Technology Motorsports Engineering course at Edith Cowan University. All the staff wish Stuart the very best in his endeavours.
Below is Stuarts story in his own words:
After completing my high school studies in 2016 I began working at Arise Racing, my primary role in the team involves me preparing and running the cars in the F1000 fleet as well as helping to run the Radicals. I put my University studies on hold for a year so I could become part of the team and learn about the workings of a professional race team before beginning the Bachelor of Technology in Motorsports Engineering at Edith Cowan University.
The course involves learning a lot of design, simulation and fabrication processes as well as gaining an understanding of the various race car systems. I believe my work at Arise has helped me learn a lot more about the practical side of working in a race team and race car systems which will put me in good stead for beginning the course and help put a different perspective on my studies.
I also hope that the skills I learn in the course will apply to my work in the team and help improve my skill set and value to the team. I am sure it will be a challenge balancing work but it’s a challenge I am looking forward to. Motorsport is my passion and being able to work in the industry while I am studying is an amazing opportunity.
